We do not create static HTML websites - that's because we've learnt the hard way that static sites are not sustainable. We are a web-development company based in Gurgaon,India, and we believe in creating dynamic CMS based websites which are easy to modify and maintain.
Joomla is the leading open source content management system available for free on the Internet, with millions of users all over the world. We use Joomla to create websites for our clients. This gives them the ability to update and maintain their websites easily. The content editing interface is very similar to MS Word and other popular word processing programs
Static websites are difficult to maintain. When you need to update a static webpage, you need to download it to your computer and update it. Once you have made the changes you need to upload it back to the server. This method works fine if you have a small website with 5-10 pages. But when you have a large website with a dozen webpages or more, it becomes very difficult to update them.
Moreover in order to update static pages, you need to have some knowledge of HTML and cascading style sheets, maybe even a bit of JavaScript. Using WYSIWYG editors like Dreamweaver can help you to some extent, but updating a static webpage if you do not have any idea of HTML and CSS, will be extremely difficult and frustrating.
Content management systems separate content from presentation - so you don't have to worry about the look and feel of the page. You can concentrate on managing the content without having to worry about cascading stylesheets and HTML code. With a content management system like Joomla, the average user does not need to know any programing in order to maintain the content and keep it updated.
Search engines rank sites which are updated frequently, higher than sites on which the content does not change. This is because in order to be effective, search engines need to display results which are relevant and up to date. If Google search results are not relevant or up to date, nobody would use it.
So in order to stay on the top of search engine results - your site needs to be updated frequently. But with static websites, this becomes quite difficult.
Another problem with static sites is that it is difficult to add features like forms. Almost every website needs a contact us form. You can put your contact details directly on the website, but most website visitors prefer to use the contact us form - it's easy to use. Moreover putting your email addresses on your webpage is an open invitation for spammers and cyber criminals.
Joomla, the content management system we recommend to ours clients, can be extended quite easily and adding features like "Contact Us" forms, surveys, polls, newsletters or forums becomes very easy. Just install an extension and the enhanced features you need are available in a matter of minutes.
The list of advantages of a CMS system over static websites, is endless.
We do not create static websites, because we do not want to create websites which will come back to haunt us. We do not want dissatisfied customers, and we do not want our work to be meaningless. We want to create websites which our customers will love, websites which will exist for years, if not decades. We want customers who are happy. |
